Läsåret 2011-12 arrangeras grundstudier i marinarkeologi i samarbete med Åbo universitet. Undervisningen äger rum i universitetets lokaliteter i Åbo under hösten och våren 2011-12 och avslutas med fältkurser i Hangö i maj-juni. Undervisningsspråk är engelska.
MARITIME ARCHAEOLOGY, basic studies 25 ects
General information Hangö sommaruniversitet and the Open University at the University of Turku, i.e. Brahea Centre for Training and Development, conduct basic studies in Maritime archaeolgy 2011-12. The education is arranged in Turku during the autumn of 2011 and in the spring of 2012 and is ending with field courses i May-June in Hangö / Hanko. The lectures are held in English. The fee for the course is € 75 for the Summer university per year, plus the regular standard registrationfee of € 60 charged by the Open University at the University of Turku. BASIC STUDIES, 25 ectsObjective The basic studies give an overview of the basics of maritime archaeology and provide a preparedness to understand the relation between maritime archaeology and other sciences. It also guides into central archives, literature, research methods and important historical sites especially connected to the history of the Baltic Sea. The students are encouraged to learn field survey and excavation techniques and to independently widen their knowledge in the subject. Content Basic studies including independent studies in seafaring history of the Baltic Sea; practice in field methods in shallow waters in Baltic Sea environment. Learning outcomes The basic concepts of maritime archaeology. Research history in Nordic countries and internationally. Maritime archaeologies relation to archaeology, history, ethnology, museology, seafaring and shipbuilding traditions.
